With over 20 years of experience in healthcare, including psychiatry, hospitals, and hospice, I specialize in helping individuals facing chronic or terminal illnesses, depression, anxiety, grief, and life transitions. I believe in the power of hope and provide a safe space for healing and personal growth.
I promote the healthy development of children, adolescents, adults and families.
My name is Courtney Kadish-Smith and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have worked in both mental health and addiction throughout my career. I have a passion for therapy and at the end of the day I am aware this is not an easy thing to commit too. Exploring into ourselves and working to get better is something that takes courage. I applaud you for reaching out in the first place and now we can take the step together towards making your life better.
It has been a privilege to provide psychotherapy to a variety of clients for over 20 years. I have advanced clinical training in trauma, addictions, sexual abuse, mood and personality disorders, and relationships. My therapeutic style is warm, direct, and encouraging. I provide support as you examine core issues and change underlying patterns of behavior or simply gain perspective concerning a recent issue.
I often use fitness, animal training, or parenting references to help you make sense of things. I enjoy guiding first responders/military/veterans through the "ick" left by critical incidents. I also work with older adolescents and adults, providing support through life transitions, relationship issues (familial/friendship/romantic), anxiety, trauma, fitness/body image concerns, and more! My big floofy dog may sometimes make an appearance! (And in extremely rare cases, my toddler).
I am a licensed clinical social worker in North Carolina with 18 years of experience supporting individuals facing grief, loss and significant life transitions. I was drawn to grief work after the death of my mother from cancer when I was seventeen, and the desire to more deeply understand and make meaning out of my experiences. My professional career has included work as a nursing home social worker, a hospice social worker, and a hospice bereavement counselor.
