Hi! My name is Daria Barksdale and I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor and a yoga instructor. I received my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. I've been counseling for 6 years now. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress management for children, teens, and adults. I've worked in a crisis center, in the school system, with the Department of Social Services, as well as with private practices.
I'm a dog-obsessor, nerd for flowers, and avid audiobook listener. I've been working in therapeutic settings since 2011. Over the years, I’ve learned a lot about how to help others as they struggle, succeed, and move into becoming the person they’ve always wanted to be. I've learned the power of warmth & empathy... and also how to be straight up when my clients need to hear the truth.
It’s also probably helpful for you to know that I can’t help but drop the “f-bomb” at least once a minute. Oops.

Better tomorrows are ahead with a guide willing to help along the way. Brett has been helping clients reach better tomorrows for more than a decade. His primary areas of focus have been couples issues, substance use, anger management, trauma, anxiety, depression, and general every day stress. No problem is too big that we cannot come to solutions, together.
My priority is helping you reach your goals. To that end, I often use a combination of Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, and Narrative therapies, primarily, to help you reach those goals.
As a whole, my approach is positive and looks to help you build in a healthy way. My job is to listen and help you get to a healthier place in your life. Let me be your guide and see how life can be.

Are you living a balanced life? What is your story?
Often, our path in life gets off balance when we encounter major life transitions, work stress, relationships struggles, family conflicts, complicated grief and loss and addictions. When we experience existential concerns, identity crisis, cultural distress, it affects us deeply, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and often stuck. Seeking the right help is pivotal in working through, accessing meaning behind the suffering and looking ahead with hope.

I began working in the field of Mental Health in 2004, serving the female population. After three years, I decided to make this a career choice and studied at Springfield College to earn a master’s degree as a Mental Health Counselor. The first paid position I accepted was offered by a non-profit in Brandon, FL, where I served as a Group Facilitator and Counselor to adult and adolescent populations. In this position, I discovered my passion for counseling and helping others grow.
I have devoted extra time to Impact Therapy, which provides the client with immediate support and constant feedback. We don't waste time, and client wellbeing is the focus of each session. I've also completed Level II NARM training for clients with severe/complex trauma, and I look forward to using these models to provide the best possible outcome.
I enjoy helping people feel better and with finding a better outlook on life. I offer problem-solving skills to help navigate life and the curveballs it can throw! Sometimes you may just need someone to "vent" to and offer an unbiased opinion on your situation. I am "down to earth" in my approach.
