When you become a parent, your child is the apple of your eye. You want the best life for them and you will do almost anything to ensure their safety and their happiness. Children bring joy to our lives; they are energetic, quirky and imaginative. Kids exhibit their personalities through play and social connections. Watching our tiny humans grow and learn is precious. Children test boundaries with adults as part of several developmental stages. Being inquisitive creatures, this is a child’s way of testing the environment. Dynamic relationships can affect a child's wellness causing behaviors that confuse parents and children.
Thankfully, there is help for parents and children who are concerned about ADHD, depression or anxiety. Children require creative methods of intervention to help them through these scary times. Because children’s play is often imaginative and accentuates their thoughts and feelings, creative arts therapy is the technique I use to help you and your child.
The best strategy with kids is to mimic their level of energy, shyness or creativity that they are expressing. The focus of therapy is to help your child learn coping skills that will benefit them in their world. In a career that first began twenty years ago in the Middle East and journeyed to NYC, I have seen clients from every conceivable background who have sought nurturing guidance to face trauma, anxiety, grief and sadness. Often, whether working with men and women suffering from loss or separation, abuse victims, veterans, refugees, or families of substance abusers, I have witnessed that moment of clarity in a client when they realize there is actually hope for a better, more satisfying life. This, I believe, is the essence of therapy and I strive to smooth the path towards and beyond it.
My aim is to help my clients recover hope and find the hero within. I focus on deepening client/therapist relationship through insight, empathy, mindfulness, humor, care, creativity and humanity. Furthermore, I am determined these be not just words we throw around, but pointers towards a better life filled with dignity.
I love literature and have a Master's degree in Creative Writing. This, I believe, can be another unique window in one's approach to therapy.

I am experienced in crisis counseling, individual therapy, substance abuse and group work. I have training in PTSD, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Mindful Self Compassion. I use IFS and self compassion to address anxiety, depression, substance abuse, trauma, relationship issues and other life challenges.
