Welcome! I am looking forward to learning about you and discovering how we might work together to help you live your best life.
I believe therapy is about empowerment, helping you reconnect with your strengths, build confidence, and create a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. Many of my clients come to me struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or challenges in their relationships. My role is to provide a safe, open, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and supported.
I hold a Masters in Marriage, Family, Child Counseling from San Francisco State University. I specialize in self-esteem and working with attachment-related trauma, which is sometimes referred to as complex trauma or inner child wounding. Complex trauma can often look like anxiety, depression, unhealthy patterns, or a cycle of unfulfilling relationships.
Welcome. I’m Erika and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in San Francisco. My deep interest in understanding others and my belief in the transformational power of therapy is what drew me into this work. I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology from The University of San Francisco and my passion for serving marginalized populations led me into community mental health. I worked in various positions as a substance use counselor, therapist, clinical supervisor, and clinical director. I also have experience within a private practice setting. In my free time, I enjoy fostering my relationships with family, friends, and community, working with my hands making stained glass and gardening, going outdoors—especially the ocean, and running.
I was born and raised in Brazil, and grew up in various countries of Latin America and Europe as well as in the United States. I offer an integrative track to psychotherapy that combines insight oriented therapies with a solution focused approach to help clients make more effective choices and transition through challenging moments in their lives.
I will join you on your healing journey and support you with compassion and education/tools. I will ask thought-provoking questions, challenge limiting beliefs, help you with grief, and celebrate your wins. I enjoy working with adults with giftedness, ADHD/AuDHD, echoism, and the anxiety that can accompany those traits in the modern world. I want you to thrive.
I view therapy as a collaborative process with an overall goal of wellness. I look forward to exploring what wellness looks like for you and outlining the steps to get there. My focus is creating a safe space and providing support at whatever pace works for you through a trauma-informed, culturally humble, client-centered lens!
Three ideas are at the heart of my work: You are not the problem; the problem is the problem; the problem is not yours alone to solve. Therapy with me is a space for you to explore and be affirmed in your identity, while understanding the ways you came to be and are still becoming.
